The Ice and the Wheat Kings will represent the league at Hockey Alberta Junior B Provincials

Game 1 - March 17th at 730pm in Bonnyville

Game 2 - March 18th at 500pm in Killam

Game 3 - March 23rd at 830pm in Killam

Game 4 - March 24th at 730pm in Bonnyville

 

*note the COLD LAKE games will be played at the RJ Lalonde arena in Bonnyville

 

Both teams will particiapte in the Hockey Alberta Provincial Championship in Okotoks

The NEAJBHL is proud to announce the follwing award winners for the 2011-2012 season

 

Most Valuable Player

Zach Soprovich - Vegreville Rangers

Soprovich lead the Rangers to the NEAJBHL regular season title in 2011-2012.  Along the way scoring 47 goals and 81 points to tie for the league lead in scoring.

 

Best Defenceman

Kodi Sawka - Lloydminster Bandits

This is the second consecutive best defenceman award for Sawka who was the anchor of a young defence core in Lloydminster.  Sawka tallied 39 points to compliment his strong defensive play in 2011-2012.

 

Rookie of the Year

Jarrett Weighill - Lloydminster Bandits

Weighill excelled in his first year in the NEAJBHL as he scored 26 points.  Just as impressive was his strong defensive play and ability to excel in any situation as a first year player. 

 

Top Goaltender

Dusty Hyde - Cole Lake Ice

20 wins, 5 losses, 4 Shut Outs and his 3rd consecutive award as the top goaltender in the NEAJBHL. 

The high flying Ice play with confidence knowing Hyde is the last line of defence.

 

Most Gentlemanly Player with Skill

Kelvin Hamilton - Vermilion Tigers

Hamilton has lead the Tigers in scoring each of the past two sesons and this year scored 52 points and recorded only 24 penalty minutes.

 

Manager of the Year

Blair Ziegler - Vegreville Rangers

Ziegler has been a consistent voice at the league governor meetings and a tireless volunteer for the Rangers organization for the past 3 seasons.  This season the Rangers finished first overall and consistly put a stong product on the ice.  Congratualtions Blair.

 

Coach of the Year

Curtis Giebelhaus - Vegreville Rangers

This is the second consecutive season the former Ranger captain has been awarded the NEAJBHL coach of the year.  After a forst place regular season finish Curtis was voted as the top coach in 2011-2012 by his peers.  Congratualtions.

The NEAJBHL Top Scorer Award is shared in 2011-2012

 

Zach Soprovich of the Vegreville Rangers and Niko Bourget of the Cold Lake Ice will both be honored by league for their acheivements.

 

Soprovich tallied 47 goals and 34 assists for 81 points

Bourget tallied 34 goals and 47 assists for 81 points

 

Congratulations Niko and Zach on your excellent seasons!
